Sinopsis: Alumia, en el Sertão Nordestino – una de las regiones más áridas del mundo, con una vegetación y estilo de vida muy característicos -, significa ilumina, enciende, trae luz. Esta es una película sobre cuestiones básicas de la filosofía occidental: matrimonio e hijos; luz y oscuridad; cielo e infierno; vida y muerte. Hay preguntas sin respuestas. Hay respuestas que son iguales en Paris, en Caracas, en São Paulo o en Custodia, en el Sertão de Pernambuco. Es en la finca São Francisco, un lugar sin energía eléctrica, a 342 km de Recife, donde hombres y mujeres van a compartir pensamientos, miradas y opiniones.
Synopsis: Alumia, in the Sertao Nordestino- one of the most arid regions in the world, with a very characteristic life style and vegetation -, means it illuminates, it lights, it brings light. This is a film about basic occidental philosophy: marriage and children; light and darkness; heaven and hell; life and death. There are questions without answers. There are answers that are the same in Paris, in Caracas, in Sao Paulo or in Custodia, in the Sertao de Pernambuco. This the estate of Sao Francisco, a place without electric energy, 342 km from Recife, where man and women will share thoughts, glances and opinions.

Sinopsis: Un solterón de la segunda edad, una madre soltera divorciada y un joven y alegre mullah son los protagonistas de este íntimo recuento de las relaciones de género en Irán. Sus historias giran alrededor de la institución del matrimonio temporal, también conocida como matrimonio de lujuria y deseo, una práctica chiíta que le permite al hombre y a la mujer casarse legalmente por un periodo fijo de tiempo que va desde una hora hasta 99 años de duración.
Synopsis: A lonesome middle-aged bachelor, a divorced single mother, and a jovial young mullah are the protagonists of this intimate account of gender relations in Iran. Their stories revolve around the institution of temporary marriage, also called lust-marriage, a Shia practice that allows a man and a woman to legally marry for a fixed period of time ranging from one hour to 99 years.
